UGC NET Application Form

How to Apply

  • Candidates can apply for UGC NET through online mode only.
  • It is only necessary to submit one application form. More than one application form submitted will not be accepted.
  • Register online on the official website https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in/ using the personal mail id and phone number
  • Fill in the application form and upload scanned images of a recent photograph and signature
  • Pay the fees using SBI/ CANARA/ ICICI/ HDFC Bank/Debit Card/Credit Card/UPI and keep proof of fee paid.
  • Only after the successful payment, the confirmation page of the online Application Form will be generated

Candidates should also install the ‘Sandes’ app to receive time-to-time notifications from NTA.

After the submission of the application form, candidates should take a printout of the application form for future reference. It is important that they carefully fill in all the details in the application form as incorrect or incomplete information can lead to the rejection of the application.

Eligibility Criteria for UGC-NET

  • Candidates should qualify Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC in Humanities and Social Science (including languages), Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science etc.
  • General/Unreserved/General EWS candidates should score at least 55%
  • Candidates from Other Backward Classes (OBC) belonging to Non-Creamy Layer/Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disability (PwD)/Third gender category should score at least 50% marks in Master’s degree or equivalent examination
  • Those who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course or who have appeared for their qualifying Master’s degree (final year) and are awaiting their results can also apply.
  • Candidates should not be more than 30 years as on the 1st day of the month in which the examination is concluded.
  • For OBC-NCL candidates, a relaxation of upto 5 years is provided

    Coaching Institutes

    UGC NET is a national-level examination that is conducted to determine eligibility for college and university-level teaching and research positions in India. It is conducted twice a year by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The test is conducted in 83 subjects, which includes all major disciplines such as Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, and Engineering.

    Many coaching institutes offer preparation for the UGC NET exam. Some well-known institutes include:

    Admit Card

    • Admit cards will be issued provisionally to the candidates who have fulfilled the eligibility criteria
    • Candidates should keep the admit card in good condition for future reference.
    • They can download the Admit Card from the NTA website and appear for the Examination at the given Centre on the date, shift, time and discipline as indicated in their Admit Card.
    • The admit card serves as proof of identity and provides crucial details such as the candidate's roll number, exam centre address, and exam timing.
    • Candidates who fail to produce the admit card and photo ID proof won’t be able to sit for the UGC NET exam.

    UGC NET Application Correction Window

    The National Testing Agency (NTA) provides a correction window facility after the submission of the NET 2023 Application Form. If candidates have made any mistakes in their application, now is the time to make changes or corrections in their UGC NET application form. Candidates can make corrections to their application form, including personal details, educational qualifications, and exam centre choices. It should be noted here candidates cannot edit all the details during the correction window like their category or gender. Once the correction window closes, they cannot make any further changes to their application form.

    Therefore, it is important that candidates carefully review their application form before submitting it to avoid any errors.

    The fee is Rs. 1100/- for the General/Unreserved category.
    The eligibility criteria for NET is to qualify master's degree or equivalent from a recognized university with at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories).
    You have to upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and relevant academic certificates while applying for UGC-NET.
