UPSC NDA Ranking

The candidate's performance in the Written Examination and the Interview/Personality Test will ultimately determine whether or not they are chosen for admission to the National Defence Academy. The NDA cutoff for both exam sessions is made public following the official release of the final results. To make it to the next round of the selection process, candidates must score higher than the designated cut-off mark. From the total 900 marks, the cut-off for the written exam is calculated. The last recommended candidates' scores out of 1800 marks (900 from the written exam and 900 from the SSB Interview) are used to determine the final selection cutoff.

The prescribed qualifying NDA cutoff mark for each subject was 25%. The written exam and SSB Interview have different cutoff marks that candidates must meet to qualify for the NDA exam. Candidates are recommended for admission to the Army, Navy, and Air Force wings of the National Defence Academy and Naval Academy based on the NDA cutoff.

When two or more candidates in the NDA & NA Examination (I) of 2022 received equal aggregate marks, the tie(s) was/were decided in line with the following principles, which were accepted by the Commission:

  • When two candidates receive the same overall score, the applicant who is older was given a higher rank.
  • When two candidates are the same age, the one who scored higher on the written exam is ranked higher.

The rank in the UPSC NDA exam is calculated based on the marks a candidate scored in the exam. The rank improves with a higher score.
The number of seats available in each college and course, the number of applicants appearing for the exam, the difficulty level, and the average score obtained by the candidates are considered for determining the UPSC NDA cut-off.
