XAT Application 2024

Application Highlights:

  • Registration cum application process for the 2024 exam will start from July 15, 2023 to November 30, 2023
  • The fee for all category is 2100 Rs, unless increased by the conducting authority
  • Candidates need to enter their personal and academic details while filling the form
  • The application form can be completed in a few simple steps
  • Candidates need to visit the official website of XLRI Jamshedpur.
  • While filling the form candidates need to pay the application fee as well as they need to upload the requisite documents.

XAT Syllabus

The XAT 2024 exam, set for January 7, 2024, has undergone a significant revision and now consists of five sections. These include General Awareness, Decision-Making, Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension, and a recently added Essay Writing Test. The majority of the tests consisting of Verbal Ability, Decision Making, and Quantitative Aptitude, determines the XAT percentile score and XLRI shortlisting criteria. The General Awareness and Essay Writing sections play a role during the personal interview round.

XAT Preparation

This exam has no age limits which is conducted online annually like CAT but with less time duration. The exam is divided into four sections:

  • Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation
  • Verbal & Logical Ability
  • Decision Making & Analytical Reasoning
  • General Knowledge

Some of the preparation tips for the exam:

  • First is to start early
  • Get familiar with the syllabus- while most of the questions are based on the basic concepts, some of the questions can be tricky and may require a lot of logical thinking.
  • Indentify and analyze the strong and weak areas. Work on the areas of improvement
  • Practicing mock tests is one of the most important tips that will provide useful insights into the exam. It makes easier for the students o understand their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Revise the concepts. Try to brush up the mathematical and quantitative ability concepts as it is one of the toughest section to clear
  • Time management is an important matter for entrance exam. Students must have a clear idea on how much time to spend in each sections.
  • Having a good fundamental knowledge. Most of the questions to come in the exams are basic fundamental concepts

Exam highlights:

  • It is consists of Multiple Choice Questions
  • All the MCQ have five options with one correct option
  • Duration is 3 hours
  • The exam has 4 sections
  • There is no sectional time limit.
  • Each question carries 4 marks.
  • In total, there will be 100 questions holding 400 marks.
  • The time of the XAT 2024 exam has been shifted from morning to afternoon- from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM instead of 9:30 AM to 12:40 PM.
  • For incorrect answers, 1/4 mark will be reduced.
  • Exam pattern for 2024 has been changed.
  • There is no negative marking for GK
  • 1 marks for correct answer

XAT Counselling

Stages of Counselling: The counselling procedure has various stages. The detailed description of these stages are given below -

  • Firstly, students will have to register online and apply for the counselling process. Without registration they cannot participate in the selection round.
  • Students need to pay the registration fee (fee will vary according to the colleges/universities).
  • Second stage is to fill their choice and lock the same. It is to be noted that after the choice section is locked, the data cannot be altered
  • Third is the seat allotment round. Students will get seats according to their rank, preference of the course and availability of the seats. Candidates with good ranks will have the first choice to select colleges according to their interest.
