CMAT Syllabus 2025

The CMAT Exam Syllabus comprises five sections: Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation, General Awareness, Language Comprehension, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship. NTA will not release an official CMAT Syllabus on its website. The authority will mention only the sections that must be included in the CMAT exam syllabus.

The syllabus is divided into 5 sections:

  • Language Comprehension
  • Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation
  • Logical Reasoning
  • General Awareness
  • Innovation & Entrepreneurship

NTA introduced a new section in CMAT in 2021 on Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Though in 2021 this sector was optional, in 2022 it is made mandatory.

The newly added section in CMAT exam on Innovation and Entrepreneurship which has 20 questions, covers topics like Innovative business practices, Government plans and policies, global entrepreneurs, etc.

Exam highlights:

  • It is consists of Multiple Choice Questions
  • Duration is 3 hours
  • The exam has 5 sections
  • Each section contains 20 questions
  • Each question carries 4 marks.
  • In total, there will be 100 questions holding 400 marks.
  • For incorrect answers, 1 mark will be reduced.

The syllabus for the test is not strictly pre-defined by AICTE or the National Testing Agency (NTA). It covers all the important topics on which questions are formed in each section.

CMAT syllabus 2025 is based on previous CMAT exam pattern, and topics on each of the five sections of the exam which appeared in earlier. The exam is conducted to provide admission to students in various post graduate management programmes. These programmes includes:

  • MBA
  • PGDM
  • Executive PGDM, and
  • PGCM

Yes, except for the fact that CAT does not have a General Awareness section, CAT and CMAT have an almost common syllabus.
All five sections in CMAT 2025 carry equal weightage—20 questions and 100 marks.
A period of 3-6 months is ideal for thoroughly covering the CMAT syllabus. Candidates who are already studying for other MBA entrance exams should be able to finish in one month.
