For class 11/12 students or pass out: 5-year LLB program is better and should be preferred.

2. Most of the newer NLUs have fared pretty badly. The argument 'give them time' has been going on for too long for comfort.
We'd advise people against joining these lower-ranked NLUs which are located in far-flung areas and instead join a good law college in Delhi, Mumbai & Bangalore.

3. While you shouldn't stress over rankings too much, the 'name' of the law school does matter. Some top law firms hire only from the top 3-5 NLUs. The alumni network stays with you for life. The peer group you get in top colleges is priceless.

• • A basic set of cutlery plates, knife, bowl, spoon, etc) + a good lock would be handy. You can also choose to buy these things from the nearby market
• • Table lamp and kettle are extra utilities but they are quite useful in a hostel
• • A mosquito net is not really required even though the call letter would mention the same.
• • Any other thing that you consider to be of basic utility otherwise most of the stuff can just be bought from around the campus market as and when the need arises.
